Marie Curie is a well-rounded beginner explorer. Though she starts with minimal health and no reusable weapon, her bullets and other stats help her in a pacifist strategy.
Her Polymath perk gives her more customizability as the game progresses, and her missionary provides extra Sanity and potential cost-reduction. Her animal companions are also less susceptible to ailments than humanoids.
